a musician's tale
life through my eyes

yesterday was a good day. it's easy to forget your troubles when you go visit mr. maddaloni- the driver's ed teacher at northwest suburban. he's a stitch. his laugh alone is enough to get you going. it was the last day for one of his current classes and i was invited over for pizza and to share my experiences. he said that my experience doesn't count because NO ONE has luck at the DMV like i did. the grumpy lady at the counter that wrote down all my information was complimenting me on my academic achievement. she saw my report card and started up a whole conversation about school, band, and other stuff like that. then the guy i took my test with made a corny, but sweet joke about my name once he looked at the form. he said, "robin? i thought pretty, young ones like you only come out in the spring!" ha ha ha. at any rate, he made my test really easy. i barely had to back up at all, i only had to tell him which way to turn the wheels for uphill parking, and i made a ton of right hand turns. that about covers it. nice huh? i sure thought so. but of course, mr. m loved making fun of me for it. that's alright. he said only good things and he made me smile and laugh a lot.... not that that's usually a hard thing to do. it was really fun.

i saw phantom of the opera last night. wow, good movie. i loved it. but then again, i'm biased. i knew all of the music so well i could have sung it myself, and throughout the entire thing i kept picturing what it was like when i saw it downtown. i haven't seen it in a long time, but the movie brought back a lot of memories.
it was long. two and a half hours worth of music. not that i'm complaining. it didn't seem like a long movie. to all you musical admirers out there, i highly recommend it.

i got to drive a whole lot yesterday. let me tell you, my first drive alone.... it was wonderful!! for the one or two people that might be reading this that don't have their licenses yet: you guys are gonna love it. i'm definately one of the last people my age to get my license, which is prolly why it's such a big deal to me.. i waited so incredibly long. but hey, that's alright. i've got it now.
jim got to be the first person i ever drove. he's not dead, so i get to keep driving people around! woo hoo!! although we did have an interesting conversation about death in my car...

everyone that i've given a christmas present to so far has loved it, and it makes me soo happy! gifts aren't what's important, but i love making people smile. it's such a warm feeling.
to the five out of... a lot of people that have already received a gift from me: thank you! i'm glad i could brighten your christmas a bit with some holiday cheer.
when i feel like i'm running low on holiday cheer, i just have to think positive, stay in the spirit of the season, and pull out the reserve stash.

have yourself a merry little christmas
